Coming into Attack on Titan season 3 I was slightly nervous because I heard that this season was going to be more focused on Human vs Human, but by the second episode, all my doubts had been relieved, and thought It was the greatest shit ever.
Also, we see how Levi has to mentor the new Levi squad — Connie, Eren, Mikasa, Jean, Sasha, and Armin, to kill other humans and hardens them as shown when the new recruits see that their faces have changed.
When historia was made queen I thought it was going to be weird but AOT pulled it off and Historia gets her huge payoff when she cuts ties with Rod completely by cutting the last piece of him, thus ending his life and breaking historia completely free of her past.
Also, Historia gets closer with Eren and Mikasa catches wind of this in episode eleven when she gives Eren the Death Stare. Uh oh, the Erwin death flags are high after episode twelve, with Levi showing concern for his safety on the mission to retake Wall Maria. In ep 2 Armin gets his first human kill and gets emotional about it, he starts to show maturity and is more useful to the scouts also he cross-dresses and gets felt up which was weird, reminds Eren about the dream to go she the sea.
We get see just how more mature they become when in the first battle vs Kenny squad they are indecisive and nervous and then in the second fight they just straight-up murder people from the Kenny squad.
His personality was super unique and he was a really cool character his fights with Levi were pretty hype and the whole gunman style of him in his squad was really dope. His death was pretty sad and the story of how he came to live with Levi was well done only issue I have with him is he died before his character was completely fleshed out. Plot — 9. I appreciated the change in direction and commitment to focusing on character development rather than Titans.
Although I did think the bloodline power thing was sorta whack the story was overall good. All though I am pissed that series is taking a break because I was hype to see them retake Wall Maria but whatever. I have to tell you, my mouth dropped at this moment, and the show became so much more than it ever was before. While watching the series, I always had the sneaking feeling that something was being hidden from us.
But that a whole new society actually exists outside the walls with cameras and airships? That seriously blew my mind. When you finally learn just how and why the characters in that movie are turning into giant monsters, it brings the film to a whole new level. There has to be. Not only did the animation improve but also the art quality improved. In some scenes, I was just in awe of how Wit Studio crafted the world of attack on titan season 3 part 1 so beautifully.
The only thing I had a slight issue with was some of the CGI cuts. The rod titan was done pretty well but some CGI cuts were not pretty. I also liked how they designed the crystal basement, thought it looked nice.
This dude has composed almost every one of my favorite soundtracks and is always consistent. Some uneducated people might say all his work is too similar, but guess what? Who tf cares if it is similar all his music is amazing and on top of that Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1 has, in my opinion, the best soundtrack in anime EVER.
Everyone song in Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 1 sets the mood and tone perfectly and can strike a range of emotions, whether it be sad, inspiring, hype, heartwarming, scary, or nervous every emotion can be felt. Also, the last scene when they played the scouts theme and Erwin was getting the scouts and the people hype was fucking heart pounding and gave me goosebumps.
Not only is the soundtrack good but the voice acting and sound effects are excellent as well. Dub and Sub both do a great job. Characters — 9 Eren- had some pretty good development learning that he is not special and developed some chemistry with historia and became overall more mature, only issue I had was he sometimes got a little overdramatic, and the stretch of episodes where he wanted to be eaten and was called constantly crying got a little old.
Though even did come up clutch with that crystallization power and was badass when he through the barrels in rod titans mouth Levi. After Eren and Everyone is a suspect in the investigation to find out who killed the two test-subject Titans. Meanwhile, the Cadets pick which corps they'll be joining, but after the harrowing events in the Trost attack, many are uncertain which branch to choose. As the Scout Regiment begins its push toward Shiganshina, they encounter an intelligent Female Titan unlike any they've seen before.
When Armin hypothesizes that it's really a human that's been turned into a Titan, he, Jean, and Reiner attempt to stop it. Armin, Reiner, and Jean are left stranded after their encounter with the Female Titan leaves them with only one horse, but they are soon saved by Krista who arrives with extra horses.
They wait for the order to withdraw, but to their surprise, they discover their operation is continuing albeit heading in a different direction. Meanwhile, news reaches the center group about their right flank being annihilated by the Female Titan as the latter continues to wreak havoc within the formation.
Soon, the whole formation reaches the Forest of Giant Trees with only the center Levi fires a noise round and tells the squad to keep moving forward. With more of the rearguard getting killed by the Female Titan, Eren begs his squad to let him fight but they tell him to trust Levi's decision.
As he considers turning himself into his Titan form, Levi tells him to choose to be either a monster or a member of the Recon Corps. Eren starts remembering when Hange, Levi, and his squad had him try to transform into a Titan for experimental purposes but was unable to. During a break when he tried to pick up a teaspoon, Eren suddenly partially transformed, The Female Titan has been captured, and it's Erwin's goal to find out who the human is lurking inside it.
Meanwhile, the Scouts realize that the reason Levi told no one about their true mission outside the wall is because there is a spy among their ranks. Erwin tells Hange that it was a mistake to think all humans who can transform into Titans are like Eren when the Female has unique abilities that are far beyond a novices, while elsewhere the mole transforms into the Female Titan and chases after Levi's squad.
Armin theorizes the mole is someone who had seen Eren transform during the invasion of Trost. Eren wants to transform into his Titan form, but the squad tells him to trust in their skills and keep moving forward.
Petra, Erd, and Auruo manage to blind the Female Titan and attempt to cut off her arms and kill her Levi orders Mikasa to distract the Female Titan in order to get Eren back. Levi launches a successful high-speed attack that debilitates the Female Titan, but Mikasa leaves herself vulnerable when she tries to finish the Female Titan. She's saved by Levi, who injures his leg in the process. They retreat with Eren, leaving the Female Titan badly wounded and slumped against a tree.
As the Corps mourn, count their dead, and retrieve the bodies before returning home, Erwin orders that the fallen whose bodies were not retrieved be reported MIA. However, a Corps member, Annie has a dream of being trained by her father before waking up. The Military Police are shown to be lazy and corrupt which one of Annie's colleagues, Hitch, reveals she joined the police for that reason.
Another colleague, Marlow, is disgusted, revealing he joined the police so he could reform it to become a better organization which Annie respects since he reminds her of Eren. After the convoy has entered Stohess, Annie is secretly Days before Eren is escorted to the capital, Erwin and Armin reveal to him they have a plan to capture the person they believe is the Female Titan and is shocked when they tell him it is Annie. Back in the present, Eren, Armin and Mikasa manage to escape a tunnel collapse while being hunted by the Female Titan.
Eren tries to transform but is unable to which Mikasa suspects his feelings for Annie are preventing him. Eren and Annie fight each other as Titans throughout Stohess, causing destruction and civilian deaths while Hange orders her men to stand by before they capture Annie.
Meanwhile, Erwin tells Nile he will accept responsibility for the damage his plan has caused, for which Nile has Erwin arrested while the Military Police help evacuate the civilians. After exchanging several blows, a berserk Eren completely overpowers Annie who attempts to escape by climbing up Wall Sina.
However, Mikasa cuts off Annie's Titan fingers, sending her falling.
